The residents of Bario Asal longhouse and adjoining Arur Layun village intend to install a micro-hydro system capable of producing a minimum of 10 kW of electricity on the Pa Merario River. The micro-hydro system will replace the current diesel generator which runs for only 3 hours each night and costs residents RM 900.00 per month.
It will provide the 47 houses (Appendix A) in Bario Asal and Arur Layun, and the village church with a constant supply of clean, renewable energy at a fraction of the cost of diesel power. Residents will finally be able to enjoy indoor lighting and some of the basic amenities most of us take for granted.

Bario Asal - Arur Layun MicroHydro Fund Raising Dinner
Petabe papu ngan tauh. Few months back few of our "lun merar me anak adih" had a gathering at Dr. Balang Lemba'a's residence to discuss the construction of a MicroHydro for our Bario Asal-Arur Layun community. And the Main Committee suggested the ladies to organise a get-together cum fund-raising dinner for us.

We’ve requested the hotel to ready 40 tables - 30 tables to be sold at RM350.00 each and 10 tables sold at RM1,000.00 and above each.

The dinner tickets will be sold by table - suk nah belih ticket dih nah nakap lun manuh meja/belih ticket dih man. (Kan dataluh - tickets to be sold ngan lun tauh Bario Asal-Arur Layun tupu - spouses included of course.)

KERJASAMA - 2nd September 2006
Kerjasama with the Bario Asal and Arur Layun Community to clear the Powerhouse area and to clean out the old Hydro dam. A wonderful turnout by the community and we managed to get the gate valves open and removed a large portion of the silt.
