A 24-year-old undergraduate is now in hospital and suffering from partial memory loss after he was believed to have been assaulted and robbed of his cash, identity card and motorcycle.

Jeremy Paran Labang of Bario, Sarawak, a student of Universiti Sains Malaysia’s School of Fine Arts, was found in daze by a motorist near the university’s gate in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah early this morning. Met at the Penang Hospital, where he is warded with injuries to his right lip, face and left leg, he seemed in a daze about what happened. "What am I doing here? How did you find me? How did I get here?" he kept asking his friends at his bedside.

Jeremy was on his way back to his apartment about 3am when he was stopped by two men before being hit on the face with a hard object. The motorist who found Jeremy saw a man riding off on a scooter and another on a motorcycle. He then took Jeremy to the Jalan Patani police station and assisted the injured in lodging a report. It was then that the victim realised his identity card and cash were missing from his wallet. Jeremy called a friend from the police station who took him to the hospital. The friend, who did not wish to be named, said Jeremy told him that he was flagged down by two people while on his way home.

"But he does not remember what took place after that," he said.
